Dutch Translation
English to Dutch Translation Projects
We assist organizations with documentation or marketing material (e.g. brochures, manuals, website content, PowerPoint presentations, product labeling, etc.) that are written in Dutch and require accurate translation into English.
Of course, in addition to English to Dutch and Dutch to English translation assignments, we can also assist you with the translation of the world's most popular languages to and from Dutch: Arabic ↔ Dutch; Spanish ↔ Dutch; French ↔ Dutch; German ↔Dutch; Italian ↔ Dutch; Portuguese ↔ Dutch; Russian ↔ Dutch; Japanese ↔ Dutch; Chinese ↔ Dutch; Polish ↔ Dutch; to name but the most popular... We can source translation expertise for virtually any language pair.
Dutch Language Style
Our translators, editors and proofreaders render well-written and clearly understandable texts. We place a high value on rendering a finished product that is faithful to the language style of the original text.
Dutch to English Translation Projects
We assist businesses in finding the best available Dutch to English language translation resources – including experienced Dutch language translators (native-speaking Dutch if appropriate or required).
In our experience, a Dutch language native-speaker may not necessarily be the right translator for the job. (See: Common myths and misconceptions about translation.) Though a native-speaker may be preferable for certain translation assignments, having Dutch as a native language may not 'translate into' Dutch language expertise (pun intended). An experienced linguist with strong Dutch and English language translation credentials, in-depth experience and professional credentials, regardless of native language, may often prove to be a better choice.
Identifying and securing the services of the appropriate Dutch language resources is what we do! (Refer to our Dutch translation assignment process for information on our Dutch translation project management process).
In a nutshell, we use professional translators who have a solid mastery of the Dutch language (grammar, spelling, cultural nuances) and a solid understanding of the subject matter.
Once we are confident that the appropriate freelance resources have been identified and certain that we can honour the project deadline, we submit a quote for the translation assignment.
If we cannot secure the appropriate resources, we will do our best to refer you to Dutch translation sources of information that we have confidence in.

The Language Landscape in the Netherlands
Population of the Netherlands: 16,645,313 (July 2008 est.)
Languages: Dutch (official), Frisian (official)
Internet country code: .nl
Internet users: 14.544 million (2006)
Dutch is a West Germanic language spoken by around 24 million people, mainly in the Netherlands, Belgium and Suriname, but also by smaller groups of speakers in parts of France, Germany and several former Dutch colonies. Sometimes called the smallest world language, it is closely related to other West Germanic languages (e.g., English, West Frisian and German) and somewhat more remotely to the North Germanic languages.
Dutch is a descendant of several Frankish dialects, that were spoken in the High Middle Ages and Early Modern Times, and to a lesser extent from the Frisian language, that was spoken by the original inhabitants of Holland. Dutch is the parent language of several Dutch-based creole languages as well as of Afrikaans, one of the official languages of South Africa and the most widely understood in Namibia.
Dutch and Afrikaans are to a very large extent mutually intelligible, although they have separate spelling standards and dictionaries and have separate language regulators. Standard Dutch (Standaardnederlands) is the standard language of the major Dutch-speaking areas and is regulated by the Nederlandse Taalunie (Dutch Language Union). Dutch is also an official language of the European Union and the Union of South American Nations.
