English to Estonian Translation Projects
We assist organizations with documentation or marketing material (e.g. brochures, manuals, website content, PowerPoint presentations, product labeling, etc.) that are written in Estonian and require accurate translation into English.
Of course, in addition to English to Estonian and Estonian to English translation assignments, we can also assist you with the translation of the world's most popular languages to and from Estonian: Arabic ↔ Estonian; Spanish ↔ Estonian; French ↔ Estonian; German ↔ Estonian; Italian ↔ Estonian; Portuguese ↔ Estonian; Russian ↔ Estonian; Japanese ↔ Estonian; Chinese ↔ Estonian; Hindi ↔ Estonian; to name but the most popular... We can source translation expertise for virtually any language pair.
Estonian Language Style
Our translators, editors and proofreaders render well-written and clearly understandable texts. We place a high value on rendering a finished product that is faithful to the language style of the original text.
Estonian to English Translation Projects
We assist businesses in finding the best available Estonian to English language translation resources – including experienced Estonian language translators (native-speaking Estonian if appropriate or required).
In our experience, a Estonian language native-speaker may not necessarily be the right translator for the job. (See: Common myths and misconceptions about translation.) Though a native-speaker may be preferable for certain translation assignments, having Estonian as a native language may not 'translate into' Estonian language expertise (pun intended). An experienced linguist with strong Estonian and English language translation credentials, in-depth experience and professional credentials, regardless of native language, may often prove to be a better choice.
Identifying and securing the services of the appropriate Estonian language resources is what we do! (Refer to our Estonian translation assignment process for information on our Estonian translation project management process).
In a nutshell, we use professional translators who have a solid mastery of the Estonian language (grammar, spelling, cultural nuances) and a solid understanding of the subject matter.
Once we are confident that the appropriate freelance resources have been identified and certain that we can honour the project deadline, we submit a quote for the translation assignment.
If we cannot secure the appropriate resources, we will do our best to refer you to Estonian translation sources of information that we have confidence in.

Estonian is the official language of Estonia, spoken by about 1.1 million people in Estonia and tens of thousands in various émigré communities. It is a Finno-Ugric language and is closely related to Finnish.
One distinctive feature that has caused a great amount of interest in linguists is that Estonian has what is traditionally seen as three degrees of phoneme length: short, long, and "overlong", such that /toto/, /toˑto/ and /to:to/ are distinct. In actuality, the distinction isn't purely in the phoneme length, and the underlying phonological mechanism is still disputed.
Another feature that sets Estonian apart from most languages is the vowel õ ([ɤ]), a close-mid near-back unrounded vowel, which is farther back than the schwa ([ə]), but unrounded unlike [o].
