English to Urdu Translation Projects
We assist organizations with documentation or marketing material (e.g. brochures, manuals, website content, PowerPoint presentations, product labeling, etc.) that are written in Urdu and require accurate translation into English.
Of course, in addition to English to Urdu and Urdu to English translation assignments, we can also assist you with the translation of the world's most popular languages to and from Urdu: Arabic ↔ Urdu; Spanish ↔ Urdu; French ↔ Urdu; German ↔ Urdu; Italian ↔ Urdu; Portuguese ↔ Urdu; Russian ↔ Urdu; Japanese ↔ Urdu; Chinese ↔ Urdu; Hindi ↔ Urdu; to name but the most popular... We can source translation expertise for virtually any language pair.
Urdu Language Style
Our translators, editors and proofreaders render well-written and clearly understandable texts. We place a high value on rendering a finished product that is faithful to the language style of the original text.
Urdu to English Translation Projects
We assist businesses in finding the best available Urdu to English language translation resources – including experienced Urdu language translators (native-speaking Urdu if appropriate or required).
In our experience, a Urdu language native-speaker may not necessarily be the right translator for the job. (See: Common myths and misconceptions about translation.) Though a native-speaker may be preferable for certain translation assignments, having Urdu as a native language may not 'translate into' Urdu language expertise (pun intended). An experienced linguist with strong Urdu and English language translation credentials, in-depth experience and professional credentials, regardless of native language, may often prove to be a better choice.
Identifying and securing the services of the appropriate Urdu language resources is what we do! (Refer to our Urdu translation assignment process for information on our Urdu translation project management process).
In a nutshell, we use professional translators who have a solid mastery of the Urdu language (grammar, spelling, cultural nuances) and a solid understanding of the subject matter.
Once we are confident that the appropriate freelance resources have been identified and certain that we can honour the project deadline, we submit a quote for the translation assignment.
If we cannot secure the appropriate resources, we will do our best to refer you to Urdu translation sources of information that we have confidence in.

The Urdu Language Landscape
Population of Pakistan: 167,762,040 (July 2008 est.)
Language: Urdu
Internet country code: .pk
Internet users: 12 million (2006)
Urdu is an Indo-Aryan language of the Indo-Iranian branch, belonging to the Indo-European family of languages. It developed under Persian and to a lesser degree Arabic and Turkic influence on apabhramshas during the Delhi Sultanate and Mughal Empire (1526-1858 AD) in South Asia.
Urdu is a standardised register of Hindustani termed the standard dialect Khariboli. The grammatical description in this article concerns this standard Urdu. In general, the term "Urdu" can encompass dialects of Hindustani other than the standardised versions.
Standard Urdu has approximately the twentieth largest population of native speakers, among all languages. It is the national language of Pakistan as well as one of the 23 official languages of India.
There are between 60 and 80 million native speakers of standard Urdu (Khari Boli). According to the SIL Ethnologue (1999 data), Hindi/Urdu is the fifth most spoken language in the world. According to George Weber's article Top Languages: The World's 10 Most Influential Languages in Language Today, Hindi/Urdu is the fourth most spoken language in the world, with 4.7 percent of the world's population, after Mandarin, English, and Spanish.
In Pakistan, Urdu is spoken and understood by a majority of urban dwellers in such cities as Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi/Islamabad, Abbottabad, Faisalabad, Hyderabad, Multan, Peshawar, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Sukkur and Sargodha. Urdu is used as the official language in all provinces of Pakistan.
