Hausa Translation
English to Hausa Translation Projects
We assist organizations with documentation or marketing material (e.g. brochures, manuals, website content, PowerPoint presentations, product labeling, etc.) that are written in Hausa and require accurate translation into English.
Of course, in addition to English to Hausa and Hausa to English translation assignments, we can also assist you with the translation of the world's most popular languages to and from Hausa: Arabic ↔ Hausa; Spanish ↔ Hausa; French ↔ Hausa; German ↔Hausa; Italian ↔ Hausa; Portuguese ↔ Hausa; Russian ↔ Hausa; Japanese ↔ Hausa; Chinese ↔ Hausa; Hindi ↔ Hausa; to name but the most popular... We can source translation expertise for virtually any language pair.
Hausa Language Style
Our translators, editors and proofreaders render well-written and clearly understandable texts. We place a high value on rendering a finished product that is faithful to the language style of the original text.
Hausa to English Translation Projects
We assist businesses in finding the best available Hausa to English language translation resources – including experienced Hausa language translators (native-speaking Hausa if appropriate or required).
In our experience, a Hausa language native-speaker may not necessarily be the right translator for the job. (See: Common myths and misconceptions about translation.) Though a native-speaker may be preferable for certain translation assignments, having Hausa as a native language may not 'translate into' Hausa language expertise (pun intended). An experienced linguist with strong Hausa and English language translation credentials, in-depth experience and professional credentials, regardless of native language, may often prove to be a better choice.
Identifying and securing the services of the appropriate Hausa language resources is what we do! (Refer to our Hausa translation assignment process for information on our Hausa translation project management process).
In a nutshell, we use professional translators who have a solid mastery of the Hausa language (grammar, spelling, cultural nuances) and a solid understanding of the subject matter.
Once we are confident that the appropriate freelance resources have been identified and certain that we can honour the project deadline, we submit a quote for the translation assignment.
If we cannot secure the appropriate resources, we will do our best to refer you to Hausa translation sources of information that we have confidence in.

The Hausa Language Landscape
Population of Niger: 13,272,679 (July 2008 est.)
Languages: French (official), Hausa, Djerma
Internet country code: .ne
Internet users: 40,000 (2006)
Hausa is the Chadic language with the largest number of speakers, spoken as a first language by about 24 million people, and as a second language by about 15 million more.
Hausa belongs to the West Chadic languages subgroup of the Chadic languages group, which in turn is part of the Afro-Asiatic language family.
Native speakers of Hausa, the Hausa people are mostly to be found in the African country of Niger and in the north of Nigeria, but the language is widely used as a lingua franca (similar to Swahili in East Africa) in a much larger swathe of West Africa (Accra, Abidjan, Dakar, Lomé, Cotonou, Bamako, Conakry, Ouagadougou, etc.) and Central Africa (Douala, Yaoundé, Maroua, Garoua, N'djaména, Bangui, Libreville, etc.), particularly amongst Muslims. Radio stations like BBC, Radio France Internationale, China Radio International, Voice of Russia, Voice of America, Deutsche Welle, and IRIB broadcast in Hausa. And it is taught in Western and African universities.
